Android: Broadcom Come with New Dual-Core Processor for Smartphone

Broadcom is not a new name in electronic market. It holds huge shares of electronic market and produces large range of electronic parts. It is in market with all type of chips and component to power various range of electronic device. Recently Broadcom has announced the development of its new dual core processor. This Dual core processor platform is developed for Android. It runs application processing and 3G HSDPA connectivity at the same time.

Broadcom has named this new platform as “Broadcom BCM2157”. Its strategy is to capture the rapidly growing market of Android Smartphone consumer. The key technical specification of BCM2157 includes 3G HSDPA modem which supports 7.2 Mbps of downstream and also global roaming. It also includes HVGA display screen  for excellent display, multi touch screen for smart use of apps and 5 MP digital camera and lots many more.

Apart from general Smartphone capabilities, Android baseband platform also has 3G dual SIM/dual standby. Its CPU runs at 500 Hz. This platform also includes GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi and Broadcom InConcert technology. Broadcom is expected to launch this platform in Q1 2011.
